Overview
This 20-session Antibiotic Lecture Series offers a practical, 30-minute walkthrough of key antimicrobial agents used across clinical practice from foundational classes like penicillins and cephalosporins to mid-level topics such as HIV-related antimicrobial considerations. Each session focuses on real-world prescribing, clinical indications, resistance patterns, and decision-making pearls relevant to all clinical positions. Participants will also receive concise, high-yield handouts designed for quick reference in daily practice.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Differentiate major antibiotic classes based on spectrum of activity and clinical indications.
  2. Apply antimicrobial stewardship principles when selecting antibiotic therapy for common infections.
  3. Recognize patterns of antimicrobial resistance and incorporate them into prescribing decisions.
  4. Identify key safety considerations, contraindications, and dosing nuances for commonly used antibiotics.
  5. Integrate evidence-based antibiotic selection into everyday clinical practice to improve patient care.

Accreditation
Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center is accredited by the Southern States CME Collaborative to provide continuing education for physicians.
